Embrace, co-opt, claim victory, move on

Glenn Greenwald's right. With the House about to cave on retroactive telco immunity, why even bother to fake a fight in the first place? If civil liberties, and accountability, mean nothing, then Congress should just make every legislative demand coming from the White House their own. They should embrace the president and his wishes, they should co-opt those wishes, they should claim victory, avoid the hand-wringing, and move on. At least then Congress would be seen as doing something and not be perceived as the embarrassment that it is.
