Let The Mudslinging Begin

The RNC has produced a video suggesting that it is trial lawyers and special interests that are behind the fight against allowing the executive branch to sidestep FISA and continue to monitor our every phone call and e-mail without a warrant.

The script contains some gems, like:

"America's ability to respond to [threats] is being undermined by Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama." I wonder if this could be considered campaign speech? I bet we'll be hearing a lot of this during the general election.

"Reid, Clinton, and Obama...want to make it easier to sue the telephone companies the cooperate with lawful government requests." Ah, the bald-faced lie. Many of these requests were not and still are not even remotely lawful, which is why the Bush Administration is scrambling to give the telecoms retroactive immunity for their actions!

And my personal favorite: "After all, the terrorist threat to America never expires." Be afraid! Forever! The bogie man is coming! It's a Red! It's a Viet Cong! It's an African American parolee! It's the illegal immigrants! It's Saddam! It's Weapons of Mass Destruction! It's Iran!
