Contribute To MoveOn.org

In 2004 I traveled to Columbus, Ohio, as a MoveOn.org volunteer to help get out the vote. Johny Kerry won my district, and there is no doubt in my mind that victory was a result of the MoveOn.org effort.

Sure the Republican field looks like a joke right now. Sure it feels like the Democrats can't lose. Just don't forget that in 2004 most of us thought well, Kerry may not be the greatest candidate, but he's a war hero so the Bushists will not be able to run on their perceived greatest strength, national security. Then the Rove/Ailes machine got involved, invented the Swift Boat Veterans For Truth, and next thing we knew the Republican smear machine made a Vietnam-avoiding National Guard deserter seem more patriotic than a decorated war hero who volunteered for service during Vietnam. And Kerry lost.

Where do you think Karl Rove has been all these months since "resigning?"

I expect that during these past few weeks he's been taking notes watching the Clintons' lies and and distoritions of Obama's record and quotes. If Obama is the Democratic nominee, you can bet we'll hear those exact same lies and distortions oozing out from the Republican side, and the audience (Republicans) will be a far more receptive one.

Please watch MoveOn.org director Eli Pariser's brief video (above) request for your donations, then go to MoveOn.org and donate.

Thanks.
