Politics at the expense of priorities

CNN: Bush vetoes Dems' health and education bill

At the same time Bush signed a $471 billion defense budget. Incredible.

The president believes vetoing domestic spending bills is good politics. The president believes he can recapture the fiscal-conservative-mantle by suddenly using his veto pen. The president is wrong. All he is doing is insuring a Democratic president come '08--not that his careless disregard for the real priorities of the American people hasn't done that already.
