Inhofe Remains Delusional About Global Warming

Dim Son's State of the Union admitted that Global Warming is a serious danger. The recently published international climate report stated that not only is Global Warming happening and dangerous, but that it is almost certainly caused by human behavior.

This powerful convergence of indicators is lost on Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK). Inhofe is holding fast to his Big Polluter-sponsored positions: Global Warming is a hoax; the climate scientists are in fact politicians, not scientists; "the proponents of manmade catastrophic global warming are being motivated by money." In an interview with Miles O'Brien on CNN, Inhofe actually claimed that "money" is behind Global Warming alarmism, as if Big Oil hasn't been spending millions attempting muddy the debate.

----

As Creature has covered previously, the right wing is after John Edwards, which is reason enough for progressives to give Edwards' candidacy a long look. The wing-nut leading this early Swift-Boating of Edwards is Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League, who claims that the bloggers hired by Edwards' campaign are bigots. Mr. Donohue gets regular airtime on MS-GOP's Scarborough Country, and has spouted such pleasantries as, "Hollywood is controlled by secular Jews who hate Christianity in general and Catholicism in particular. It's not a secret, okay? And I'm not afraid to say it. ... Hollywood likes anal sex. They like to see the public square without nativity scenes. I like families. I like children. They like abortions." Not that I need to point this out, but Donohue said that Jews hate Christianity, Catholics, families, children, and nativity scenes, but are fans of anal sex and abortions.

I guess this guy should know what it means to be a bigot.

Question: if religious zealots can get angry and get airtime over bloggers' personal opinions about religion, why don't sentient rational folks who know the earth is round and that Global Warming is real get angry and get airtime over a powerful senator's denial of fact. In yet another situation where Republicans left the "fox guarding the hen house," Inhofe, the lone senator who took the floor to declare Global Warming a hoax, was the chairman of the Senate's environment committee.

As with Tricky Trigger Dick's recent "the reality on the ground [in Iraq] is we've made major progress" broadcast denial of reality last week, this kind of intentional (or delusional, it's so hard to tell) misrepresentation of reality should make sentient human beings very angry. What's needed is a way to combat it's widespread dissemination. A comprehensive plan to do battle with the vociferously reality challenged is required. In the meantime, how about we let the Edwards campaign know we support his blogger pals.
