It is now pretty well confirmed that the intelligence books were cooked. Cheney wanted his oil war, but the connection to terror was lacking--some might say the connection to reality was lacking. Either way, an honest man would have stopped right there, but not Dick. No, our vice president doesn't play by the laws of reality, or the laws of the United States, so he pushed and he pushed until he got exactly what he wanted: intelligence of "dubious quality or reliability" that supported his preconceived desire to deceive our country into an illegal war.
