Accountability Day
Election day. Accountability day. Two years, a devastating hurricane and a failed war away from the last accountability day. I'm telling myself it's different this year. All signs point to different. As Big Tent D at Talk Left reminds us, "This year's Dems did not bite on any of [the GOP] bullspit. They ran the right race, with the right candidates and the right attitude."
So it all feels right. I will not lower my expectations. As of right now I want the House AND the Senate. I want the Bush administration to pay a price. I want the whole GOP to pay a price. I want the troops to come home. I want the treasonous war profiteers to be put behind bars. I want investigations. I want subpoenas up their fuckin' asses. I want stem cell research. I want the kids to no longer be left behind. I want equal rights and gays to be married. I want cheap health care. I want to improve our standing in the world. I want to raise the damn minimum wage. I want real protection from the real threat of terrorism. I want change. I want it all, and I want it today.

Now go vote. Go vote now.
Oh, and screw Adam Nagourney.
UPDATE: My duty is done. It felt great. And, as an added bonus, like voting wasn't reward enough, I got to vote for Eliot Spitzer today. With all the Senate and House hubbub I had completely forgoten that governor was on the ballot. Go Spitz!
