Losing all the marbles

Generally I think GOP shill Frank Luntz is a horse's ass, but with statements like this I may just come to believe he is the smartest pollster on the planet.
Some conservatives said it is too late. "They honestly need a baseball bat against the head," said Republican pollster Frank Luntz, who helped Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) take over Congress in the 1990s. "Because if they don't change the lexicon immediately, as bad as this election is going to be, they're going to lose the presidency in 2008. I've given up on 2006. They've already made so many mistakes, there's no way they can fix it in two weeks. But I'm worried now they're going to lose all the marbles."
The GOP has lost the independents, they have certainly lost any lingering Reagan democrats, so they can rally their base all they want, but 40 delusional percent just ain't gonna cut it if the GOP plans to win this election fair and square. Fair and square being the key here. If Diebold wasn't in the election picture then I'd have more faith that statements like Luntz's could become political reality.
