Immigration Thoughts

Yesterday I attended the immigration rally, and subsequent march, here in New York City. Yesterday I did not see immigrants, illegal or otherwise, yesterday I saw my neighbors. Yesterday I saw families. Yesterday I saw people standing up for respect and dignity. Yesterday I saw how a democracy should work. Yesterday I was proud to be an American. Funny how that works? Leaving September 11th, and it's own stranger-turned-neighbor aftermath aside, I have never felt more patriotic then I did yesterday. George Bush pays lip service to freedom, the American immigrant lives it.

For coverage of yesterday's boycott, and it's impact, I'll send you to the Washington Post. For a wrap up of all the views, feel free to head on over to The Moderate Voice.
