Flip the Coin

Two parties, one issue, a line is drawn and the Democrats win. We are speaking of solutions to the gas price problem. First up, here is the president's solution* (hint: his buddies win):

Incredible, he uses high gas prices as an excuse to give his friends exactly what they clamor for. Once again the president exploits the pain of the American people. Now, let's turn the coin. Here is what the Democrats are proposing (hint: you win):

Democrats are set to introduce a measure that would create a "federal gas tax holiday" by eliminating the federal tax on gas and diesel for sixty days, RAW STORY has learned.

Concrete action that would directly help the American people. This is politically brilliant. "Federal gas tax holiday," even the name works. And how will the Democrats make up this tax shortfall? This is great:

Not only do the people win, but Bush and his slick oil buddy pals will lose their pocket change. This works for me, and since I have the pulse of the American people down, this works for the public as well. It's politics, it's practical, and I'm pleased.

*And, I hate to say it, but I owe the president an apology. In this post I called him a "hollow man" for thinking that another speech would solve the gas price problem. I expected all politics and no substance. Well, we got some substance. Absolutely, ridiculous, disgusting, base driven substance, but substance nonetheless. Sorry GWB, you're not a hallow man, you're just a shallow man.
