What Are They Afraid Of?
Feingold, Harkin, Boxer, Kerry. What do these Democrats have in common? They have chosen to stand up for the rule of law and are willing to censure George Bush.* Count'em, four. What are the rest of them so afraid of? What have they got to lose? Nothing, according the to first censure poll to hit the streets today.
*While I love the idea of censuring GWB, and I'm glad Senator Feingold has, at a minimum, started a national conversation about it, I just want to make it clear that I would prefer impeachment, coupled with imprisonment, and maybe a bit of tarring and feathering just for kicks.

Update: In my original post I included Senator Menendez among the Democrats who have joined the censure party. It seems I was wrong and it has been corrected. Thanks to William Beutler of The Hotline's Blogometer for pointing out my error.
All Adults 46%-favor 44%-oppose 10%-undecidedThe key number here is that 70% of Democrats are in favor of censure. Not to mention 48% of voters overall. Tell me dear Democrats, what are you afraid of? It can't be getting re-elected. You're covered there. Are you afraid to get yelled at by the GOP? They're already yelling at you (not to mention laughing and pointing fingers). Does Cheney scare you that much? Actually he kinda scares me too, so that's not a fair question. Are you afraid of the 33% president? Maybe you guys should wait until he's down to 32%. Have you all made a deal with the conventional-wisdom-god that you cannot break? You have the political cover you need. C'mon Dems, jump on board the censure train. The American people are already going for the ride; why don't you join them?
