Image over Substance

Being at work has its disadvantages. All day yesterday I'm thinking Operation Swarmer was some sort of actual military operation. One large kick-ass fight. Go team! It wasn't until I got home and saw the pictures on the TV, and then more pictures on the TV, and then finally more pictures on the TV, did I realize what really happened in Iraq yesterday. Operation Swarmer was not a military operation; it was a public relations operation. War TV, ready made for public consumption. A little good P.R. for the stand-up weary Iraqi army. Not to mention a few bombs going off to help the ratings.

It's always about the images with these guys. Think Jessica Lynch. Think terror alerts. When things are going wrong and questions are being asked the Bush Administration puts on a show. They are good at the show. Whether it's a mission accomplished party on an aircraft carrier (codpiece included) or it's a mean old statue being torn down, it's always image over substance. The problem is they govern the same exact way. The entire leadership of this country are b-list actors who punch the clock when Karl Rove yells cut.

It's propaganda and it's more propaganda. Next thing you know they'll be handing out money to national media commentators to get them to advocate on their behalf. Oh...

Reality more.

And George, could you leave the troops out of the next production? They are working for scale and simply can't afford to put on another show.

Update: It's seems I may have been right. Operation Swarmer is a whole lotta nothing.
