Arrgh!!

From King George's press conference today:
But the president defiantly defended his warrantless eavesdropping program, and baited Democrats who suggest that he broke the law.

Calling a censure resolution "needless partisanship," Bush challenged Democrats to go into the November midterm elections in opposition to eavesdropping on suspected terrorists. "They ought to stand up and say, `The tools we're using to protect the American people should not be used,'" Bush said.

Dammit - one of you elected Democrats better stand up and fight this one. Here's a start:

We don't oppose the tools being used to fight the War on TerrorĀ®; we oppose the manner in which President Bush's administration broke the law while using those tools. There is a right way and a wrong way to investigate citizens of the United States of America as well as terrorists and we will legally undertake all necessary actions to keep our citizens safe. Please note that the only terror attack on U.S. soil occurred during a Presidency that was warned with all information necessary to help thwart it. That presidency sat idly by while the second highest loss of American lives in the past 5 years occurred*. We Democrats will not ignore PDB's with titles like "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the U.S." We will keep Americans safe. We will follow our pledge to uphold the Constitution. We will not illegally spy on Citizens. We will use the same tools that the corrupt Republican administration is using now, but we will use them properly, effectively and legally.

We will treat those tools with the same respect that we afford the rights of the citizens of this great nation
.

Unless, of course I completely misunderstood His Imperial Highness and by "tool" he means Alberto Gonzales and all the bullshit he makes up to defend King George's unprecedented illegalities.

* yes - Hurricane Katrina with 1300 dead and 2300 missing is a higher total than 9/11 at this point. Again, a situation where the administration was clearly warned and did literally nothing to help mitigate a disaster.
