Your DINOs in Action

The South Dakota Senate has passed legislation prohibiting any abortion in the state except those necessary to save the lives of the pregnant women. This legislation was introduced by Democrat Julie Bartling of Burke, SD. She pontificates:
"It is the time for the South Dakota Legislature to deal with this issue and protect the lives and rights of unborn children."
She also notes that with (Sc)Alito and Thomas on the bench, the Supreme Court will be more likely to consider overturning Roe v. Wade (aka King George's biggest dilemma for crossing a creek out on the ranch).

Don't worry - it could have been worse. The initial legislation included the following (my emphasis):
Any person who administers to any pregnant female or who prescribes or procures for any pregnant female or who advises any pregnant female to take any medicine, drug, or substance or uses or employs any instrument or other means with intent thereby to procure a miscarriage or abortion, unless the miscarriage or abortion is necessary to preserve the pregnant female's life, is guilty of a Class 1 felony.
Yep - she also has RU-482 in her sights. She's also proposing an amendment to the South Dakota constitution to include: "The policy of South Dakota is to protect the life of the unborn child from conception until birth. Nothing in this Constitution may be construed to grant or secure any right relating to abortion or the funding thereof." This is in addition to her fantastic work of clarifying what constitutes an "Athletic Trainer" in the state. You South Dakotans are certainly getting more bang for your legislative buck!
